ComfortDelGro Bus – Bilingual Recruitment Brochure for Bus Captain Hiring

This brochure was designed for ComfortDelGro Bus, a separate business unit supported by our internal marketing team, as part of a recruitment initiative to attract new Bus Captain hires. With no existing materials provided, we began from scratch — developing the content, layout, and visual tone in collaboration with the client.The final brochure had to be bilingual (English and Chinese), double-sided, and adaptable to last-minute production constraints.

I worked closely with our marketing manager and copywriter, responding to continuous changes in messaging and layout as the content evolved throughout the project.To clearly communicate the key benefits and responsibilities to the target audience, I incorporated simple icons, perks symbols, and a layout structure that highlighted the most relevant information first — ensuring that even on a quick glance, the message would land effectively.

  • Collaborated with the marketing team to define initial structure and messaging
  • Designed and maintained bilingual layouts that balanced clarity across two languages
  • Integrated icons and symbols to guide reading flow and simplify key points
  • Reworked layouts through multiple content changes and stakeholder reviews
  • Retouched in-house photography and rebuilt scenes to project a modern, forward-looking image
  • Reconfigured final design to support in-house black-and-white printing on short notice

Design Approach

  1. Built from the Ground Up
    With no visual or content direction from the business unit, I collaborated with our team to shape the brochure’s strategy, tone, and layout in both English and Chinese.
  2. Content-Driven Iteration
    The brochure underwent several revisions, with layouts restructured to reflect updated messaging and visual requests.
  3. Modern Visual Tone
    Using in-house photos of Bus Captains, I recreated backgrounds with a futuristic and positive tone to shift perceptions of the role.
  4. Adaptable for Print Changes
    When printing was changed to in-house monochrome, I redesigned the layout for high contrast and print legibility, ensuring nothing was lost in translation — visually or linguistically.
  5. Bilingual, Audience-Centric Layout
    I designed side-by-side English and Chinese sections using logical hierarchy, icons, and visual markers to help different readers quickly locate the information they need.
