EZ Heat is a new product innovation by Bee Cheng Hiang that allows customers to enjoy hot bak kwa anytime, anywhere. Using an included heat pack and just water, customers can warm the bak kwa without external tools — making it ideal for travel, gifting, and on-the-go enjoyment.As a first-of-its-kind concept for the brand, the packaging needed to communicate both the new usage method and the experience-driven value, blending education, convenience, and premium presentation.

My Role
Premium Packaging Direction:
- Crafted a clean, modern, and functional layout, using material finishes and layout to support the product’s ready-to-enjoy appeal
Sub-Brand Identity Development:
- Developed the look and feel for EZ Heat as a new category under the BCH umbrella, with a distinctive yet brand-aligned aesthetic
- Included custom brand icons such as "Caution: Hot" to highlight safe handling
Scenario-Based Iconography (Front of Pack):
- Illustrated a set of scenario icons on the front to suggest real-life moments where the product could be enjoyed (e.g., at a picnic, during travel, at the office)
- These icons were designed to tell a lifestyle story visually, making the product feel versatile and ready-to-use in everyday situations
Instructional System Design:
- Created a full set of step-by-step instructional icons showing how to use the heat pack safely and effectively
- Designed visuals that clearly communicated the heating process across multiple languages and reading styles
Design Approach
- Experience-Driven Visuals: Used scenario icons to create emotional resonance and product relatability, helping users imagine how and when they’d enjoy the product
