CDG Zig – Visual Branding for GDN Ad Campaign

This project was part of a creative shift in CDG Zig’s Google Display Network (GDN) advertising strategy. As the direction moved toward a more photographic and brand-led visual style, I worked closely with the Brand Manager to develop refreshed layouts, image compositions, and ad visuals that would better represent the brand across Google platforms.

Despite managing other concurrent projects, I led the visual build of four distinct Key Visuals (KVs) — each tailored to reflect a specific message or campaign angle. The work involved photo selection, layout planning, image retouching, and even scene recreation using a mix of traditional photos and AI-generated assets to support storytelling.

My Role & Responsibilities

  • Collaborated with the Brand Manager on layout strategy and messaging alignment
  • Designed four Key Visuals, each tied to a different campaign message
  • Built and retouched visual backgrounds to match new art direction
  • Used a mix of photography and AI-generated elements to complete realistic, message-specific scenes
  • Delivered polished assets suitable for use across GDN ad formats

Design Approach

  1. Translating AI Concepts Into Brand-Ready Visuals
The project began with AI-generated mockups that set a loose visual tone. I approached this by refining and adapting the concepts into usable ad assets — focusing on layout structure, hierarchy, and alignment with CDG Zig’s brand presence across digital platforms.translate those concepts into production-ready visuals — refining layout composition, enhancing clarity, and aligning the designs with platform and brand needs.
  2. Designing with Message First in Mind
Each Key Visual required a different focus. I approached layout design by prioritizing the message, ensuring that the visual flow, copy placement, and focal imagery all worked together to highlight the campaign’s intent — without losing visual consistency across the set.
  3. Reworking and Repositioning for Visual Balance
I didn’t simply drop in car images — I re-evaluated their placement, scale, and lighting, retouching them to better support the storytelling within each composition. My goal was always clarity, balance, and polish.
  4. Blending AI and Photography Seamlessly
Rather than treat AI and traditional assets separately, I approached scene-building by blending both into one cohesive visual environment. I extended photo backgrounds using AI-generated components, adjusted tones to match, and composited everything into believable, campaign-ready images that felt intentional and premium.
